How solar cell arrays work

Nov.25.2024

At GeB, we put considerable weight on being able to harvest the sun’s power through our solar cell arrays. But how can such devices transform sunlight into electricity that can be used? To answer these questions, a look into solar cell arrays seems to yield answers.

What Are Solar Cells

Solar cells, sometimes referred to as photovoltaic (PV) cells, are solar cell arrays. These devices are made of silicon, a readily available semiconductor material in nature. They can absorb energy from sunlight in the form of photons and use this energy to free electrons and generate an electric current. This electric power can meet the energy needs of individuals, offices, businesses, and communities.

Digging into The Deep of A Solar Cell Array

Several PV cells are linked through electrical wires, forming a solar cell array that can be oriented in a series or a parallel arrangement. Connecting wires link the cells, which are commonly enclosed between layers of glass for protection and resilience against various weather factors. GEB implements techniques that would allow its products to endure exposure to strong environmental forces, thereby curtailing long-term damage.

From Solar Energy to Electricity

Solar energy is generated when solar rays strike a solar panel. It results in the movement of electrons throughout the solar cell material which then leads to electricity generation. This electricity produced is in the form of direct current (DC) but the end users use alternating current (AC) so in order to convert the DC electricity generated by the solar panels an inverter is used.

Maximizing Efficiency

Maximum efficiency is required in order for solar cell arrays to perform efficiently. At GeB, constant developments in engineering and materials have enabled us to improve the efficiency of our solar cell arrays. Making the best use of the solar energy we have access to, assists in decreasing our customer's needs for using traditional energy sources and thus lessening their carbon footprint.

Integration with Energy Storage Systems

Energy storage technologies are usually coupled with solar cell arrays in order to ensure the sustainability and constant availability of energy. At GeB, we provide such integrations where, the high performance of our solar cell arrays, is accompanied by modern energy storage technologies. This enables our clients to have sufficient energy reserves to be used at night when the sun has set after they have produced more energy than they consumed during most sunlight hours.

The Future of Solar Cell Arrays

With the advancements of technology come the further prospects of solar cell arrays. GeB is actively engaged in research and development of new materials and structures that will contribute to further solar energy advances. We work towards enabling the world to empower itself with cleaner and greener sources of energy leveraging solar power.
